    Trail Running: A version of running off-road or improved surfaces. The trail may consist of single or double track, jeep roads, and on occasion off-trail sections used to connect two trails. Power-hiking is often employed to climb steeper grades which is one facet the draws people of all abilities to the sport.

    Fast-Packing: A version of long distance backpacking where moving quickly across the terrain takes precedence over creature comforts. By necessity, there is a focus on minimizing pack weight and taking only the bare essentials for a multi-day trek.

Removed from the comforts of civilization, we quickly learn that training and experience are critical to navigating the challenges presented by the weather, terrain, and within our minds.
